Background of the Study
Innovation hubs are collaborative spaces where entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small businesses come together to foster creativity, technological innovation, and economic growth. These hubs play a pivotal role in diversifying economies, especially in regions where traditional sectors such as agriculture or manufacturing dominate. In Lafia Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State, the emergence of innovation hubs has been part of a broader effort to stimulate economic diversification by supporting technological innovation, entrepreneurship, and the development of new industries.
The concept of innovation hubs has gained traction in recent years, as they provide an environment conducive to networking, knowledge exchange, and access to funding. These hubs also offer entrepreneurs the tools and expertise needed to scale their businesses. However, there is limited research on how innovation hubs have influenced economic diversification in rural and semi-urban areas such as Lafia. This study aims to fill this gap by evaluating the role of innovation hubs in promoting economic diversification and identifying factors that influence their success.
